Henry tapped for ‘Council of Governors;’ questions remain about duties, implications

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. — Taking questions Friday from journalists at the annual Oklahoma Press Association’s Mid-Winter Convention, Gov. Brad Henry was asked about being picked by President Obama to serve on the newly-formed “Council of Governors,” which Obama created via an executive order signed on Jan. 11, 2010.
Saying he was “honored to be considered” and calling the creation of the Council of Governors “unprecedented,” Henry said he would be one of 10 governors, from both political parties, meeting every so often to address defense and security issues with the Secretary of Defense, Secretary of Homeland Security and a laundry list of security officials from various governmental agencies.
“The primary focus of the Council of Governors will be to work with the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security on issues of national defense and national security as it relates to the states,” Henry said.
Because it is a brand new organization, not a lot is known about the goals of the Council of Governors, other than what journalists have been able to report, as noted in this Infowars.com article by reporter Kurt Nimmo.
“In other words, the Pentagon and Homeland Security will give hand-picked governors their marching orders under the guise of ’synchronization and integration of State and Federal military activities in the the United States,’ a direct violation of Posse Comitatus.
And concerns are growing about the implications of the Council of Governors. 2008 Constitution Party presidential candidate and conservative columnist Chuck Baldwin wrote on Jan. 19 that “As with any expansion of the federal government, this new Council of Governors needs to be monitored very carefully by freedom lovers. One blog rightly noted that the COG ‘clearly represents another assault on Posse Comitatus, the 1878 law that bars the military from exercising domestic police powers, which was temporarily annulled by the 2006 John Warner National Defense Authorization Act before parts of it were later appealed.”
Henry, however, did not appear concerned about his involvement in the Council of Governors and the potential implications it may have on the citizens of Oklahoma. As Chuck Baldwin noted in that same column, “(W)hat is not being disclosed is what powers will be conferred upon the 10 gubernatorial council members and what authorities they will be required to cede to the federal government.”
Said Henry today, as reported here at Oklahoma Watchdog: “I’m very pleased, through the Council, to seek input from the states and develop better partnerships with states on issues of preparedness,” Henry said. “Not just terrorism but epidemics … and how we are prepared to respond to that.”
Henry will be serving on the COG along with Govs. Jan Brewer of Arizona; Jim Douglas of Vermont; Luis Fortuno of Puerto Rico; Chris Gregoire of Washington state; Robert McDonnell of Virginia; Jay Nixon of Missouri; Martin O’ Malley of Maryland; Beverly Perdue of North Carolina; and Mike Rounds of South Dakota.
Henry said the first meeting of the Council of Governors would be Feb. 23 at the White House.
And Oklahoma Watchdog will be keeping a close eye on this newly-formed organization.

The governors chosen are very interesting … as their states have been in the news for one thing or another. Doesn’t South Dakota have an interest free bank? Isn’t Vermont looking to secede from the USA? Missouri was a tie at the election. Several policed killed in Washington recently. Virgina, can’t remember at the moment, maybe an upcoming election?!
Why Oklahoma?

Everything this fictitious Usurper does is illegal.. the man in the white house is illegal himself and not the president of this country. All executive orders are and have been illegal for all , but especially to this smuck in the white house who has pulled a fast one on the american people .. Many know in CONgress, and have failed us further. When did the truth stop mattering , when its gets too hard , our lives and way of life are in peril. By the mere existence of the usurper and his regime. How many have the will to remove him by for force, those who are around him should have put the country’s interest first. Not use the “oh we will have our country torn and fights will break out.” Hey they just might anyway.. Simply because we have not done the right thing .. because they are afraid or suffer guilt of some sort. Its pretty sad the Usurper got in because of his color , and has stayed because of his color.
Now for executive orders, funny thing is Abe (not so honest) also used the first illegal executive order. From then on our country has been sunked more into disaster then ever. Further the “Council of Governors ” is joke of a group. And Henry , pffft shame on him for even saying he is honored. I tell ya now , this is so called Council is not tobe trusted and Im sure its there to implement more bad law and look good doing it . Shame , and Okies better stay on top of all angles coming at them. Okie land is prime target by the usurper and his regime, not to mention it started by clinton and now is continuing .. Events that happened in oklahoma , back when clinton was actually at least legitimate president , are all tide in .
