OKLAHOMA CITY — Over a week has passed since the July 27th primary election in Oklahoma. Since then there had been much speculation about whether or not Sen. Randy Brogdon, the Owasso Republican and Tea Party favorite would endorse Mary Fallin who bested Brogdon with a vote of 55 percent to his 39 percent.
That question was answered Wednesday at a press conference at Mary Fallin’s campaign headquarters here in Oklahoma City where Brodgon endorsed Fallin, calling on “constitutional conservatives who supported my campaign to now support Mary in hers.”
As we noted in a political column here at Oklahoma Watchdog last week,”Will Brogdon endorse Fallin?“, we wrote: “So now the Republicans will have to wait and see whether or not Randy Brogdon will endorse Mary Fallin. I suspect some out there aren’t holding their breath.”
That was written after Brogdon did not immediately endorse Fallin as Drew Edmondson endorsed Jari Askins for Democrat candidate for governor in the late hours following Askins’ victory. Brogdon had simply said he was going to wait a few days, take time off and then make a decision. That led a lot of political watchers to wonder if Brogdon, committed to “Constitutional conservatism,” would endorse Fallin.
In fact, Oklahoma Watchdog interviewed several people in the days since the primary and most agreed that if Brogdon did not endorse Fallin, “he was done in the Republican Party.”
But he did and many in the Oklahoma GOP are breathing a sigh of relief.
“If you are a committed constitutional conservative, as I am and as my supporters are, it is extremely important to get out and vote for Mary Fallin this November,” Brogdon said at today’s press conference.
Brogdon told the press that Fallin has stood up for gun rights and for stopping “the flood of illegal immigration at our borders.”
Fallin, meanwhile, praised Brogdon and his tenacious campaigning and his commitment to conservative values.
Said Fallin: “Sen. Brogdon is a principled leader and an energetic campaigner. He has a bright future in our party. I am pleased to have his support and I can assure both him and his supporters that I am ready to restore conservative principles to the governor’s office and pursue the policies of limited government, individual rights and fiscal discipline.”

I am glad Senator Brogdon has endorsed Mary Fallin for Governor. This clears the air and allows the campaign to move ahead at full speed.
